"My husband and I are not musically inclined...

I was truly impressed with how much my children were able to learn during their lessons.  Marcy uses positive confidence-building techniques that helped my young girls grow in to proud musicians!"

-Stephanie Parnin, Suffield, CT

"Her love of music is inspiring...

I have been very impressed with her ability to teach both children and adults in a relatable manner.  She is very knowledgeable and stress-free.  My daughter and I both enjoy our lessons immensely."

"There are quite a number of wonderful things I could say about Marcy as a piano teacher as I'm sure many people will...

I would like to tell a story about a long road taken.  Growing up I had piano lessons.  (The old school kind with the boring material, mean teacher, and the ruler that cracked your knuckles if your hands weren't quite held right.)  My grandmother played piano beautifully and I wanted to learn so I could play like her.  So, I started lessons with a woman I'll call "Mrs. Grumpy."  Fast forward one year and I hated it.  I loved the instrument, loved music, but the lessons drove the desire to play right out of me.  I went on to play drums and a bit of guitar but always thought of my lessons and wished I had learned to play like my Grandmother.  She had loved what she played and loved playing for other people.

Life moved on and I got about 30 years older and had tried to get back in to guitar a bit but again, couldn't find the passion once the lessons started.  I figured it was just me and it was a lost cause.  On a whim I decided to try piano one more time and posted on Facebook to see if anybody could recommend a teacher and Marcy popped up saying that she taught!  I was willing to give it a try to but to say I was pessimistic would be a bit of an understatement.

From the first lesson, I fell in love.  Whether it was learning to play scales, playing from the lesson book, or trying a simple song, I had a blast...and I started to learn pretty fast, too!  As a drummer, I never had learned notes and on guitar had plucked around with some chords but here I was learning notes, scales, and musical terms!

I found myself practicing each day not because I felt I had to but because I wanted to.  At night I would look up songs on YouTube that I wanted to learn or had cool piano and send them to Marcy to talk about.

After a few months, several bouts of grownup/working/kids real life kept getting in the way and I wasn't able to go for a few weeks.  I felt dread.  That "Oh well, this is where I will probably stop" or that she would be disappointed in the fact I had less chance to practice with all this annoying life stuff happening.  When I saw her next, she just smiled and said, "Let's review a bit and do something different today" and again I had an amazing lesson and was back on track.  This is how we have moved along ever since.

I love playing and have conquered some cool songs, continue to learn, and whenever life gets in the way she is supportive and gets me right back into things and right back in love with playing the piano.

This only happens if you have passion for something.  For me, the love of piano started with my grandmother but it is Marcy as a teacher that has instilled the passion to keep going when life throws things in the way of your practice time or tries to make it difficult.  At night, when the sound of piano rings through the quiet house and I can feel my grandmother smiling down at me while she listens, I know I owe that to Marcy, and for that I am incredibly grateful."

Marcy has a unique approach to teaching piano that makes my daughter feel like she is the star of the moment.  There is nothing better than listening to my daughter laughing and truly enjoying her lessons. She looks forward to her class all week. Classes with Marcy have really helped her self confidence, focus, and love for music.  "

"...I am so grateful that we found Marcy, but I think that my very active 7 year old son is even more grateful.  Of all the sports and activities he has tried, he says piano lessons with Marcy are his favorite and he is so excited to go every week.  We both love that Marcy is not only fun, she is extremely positive and enthusiastic.  The progress he has made in his first year of lessons has truly blown me away."

?€œ...My son LOVES going to lessons each week and never once has complained about going.  Marcy has a nice, easygoing style and I believe children are drawn to her because she makes learning fun.  Marcy is the absolute best!?€

...Her encouraging demeanor and patient approach toward her students is heartwarming.

I sing her praises to anyone who will listen and I am so lucky (but not surprised) that she was recommended to us.  Marcy's piano lessons with my precocious and energetic 8 year old son are so impressive.  She capitalizes on his energy rather than trying to force him to sit still.  She fosters his curiosity and flexibly answers his questions.  Her enthusiasm for music is shared through games, digestible-sized lessons, and extensively themed recitals.  Marcy is a true teacher."

- Rebecca Blanchard, Hampden, MA

"She lets us play games and no one else is better than her.  Plus, she is great at teaching and she is a really good expert at music.  I love when she teaches me a new song and a new note and a new game, of course! "
